Anxiety

Anxiety is the most common mental health struggle in our country. National Institute on Mental Health reports that 40 million American adults (19%) have an Anxiety Disorder. Prolonged anxiety/stress cause health problems and needless suffering that tends to get worse over time. Some approaches I use for Anxiety are Prolonged Exposure, Shame Resilience, Therapeutic Horticulture, CBT, REBT and Mindfulness.

Binge-Eating &
Body Dysmorphia

Too many people suffer from body hatred and an approach to eating that is restrictive and/or feeling out of control. Our society is fatphobic and instills a sense of shame and perfectionism that cause our body image and relationship with food to become disordered. I use Health at Every Size©, Body Trust©, Social Justice and Motivational Interviewing approaches to help clients heal, while they continue in this toxic social environment.

Addiction

1 in 10 people struggle with addiction at some point in their lives, and it is an affliction that a person can not solve alone. It is a condition that affects a person's very decision-making capacities at times, and requires both outside help as well as  a multi-faceted approach. My approaches include Shame Resilience, Mindfulness, Therapeutic Horticulture, CBT, REBT, Community Engagement, Respectful Accountability and the 12 Steps.

Complex Trauma /
Family-of-Origin Trauma

Many times, trauma does not happen in a single or even a dramatic event -rather, in a pattern of harmful experiences repeated over time. Almost half of Americans have Insecure Attachment styles and struggle in relationships, for example, due to attachment trauma in childhood. My approach to treating Complex Trauma are long-term Attachment-Based Therapy, Shame Resilience, Therapeutic Horticulture, Boundaries Training, Narrative Therapy and DBT Skills Training.

Religious Trauma /
Cult Recovery

Whether a person is born into a high-control religious or cultic group, or they are personally drawn in, these groups inflict serious wounds. An ex-member may not trust their own perceptions, may feel normal in relationships with no boundaries and generally feel lost in their lives outside the high-control group. My treatment approaches are Shame Resilience, Narrative Therapy, Psychoeducation, new healthy Community-Building, Identity Exploration through Enneagram and Boundary Training.

Adjustment to Life Transitions

Many clients come to Therapy without a chronic Mental Health Condition, but are struggling with normal life transitions. Moving homes, having a child, starting a new career, and the ongoing transitions that come along with attending college are some examples. Some stress is always a part of transition, however, if a person's health, work, or relationships are affected, Therapy helps us get unstuck. Approaches I use are Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, CBT, REBT, and Psychoeducation.

Holding Hands

Sometimes, we just can't figure it out alone. Taking the time to talk about the struggle is essential for growth and freedom. Reach out to see how I can help...
